About the role
IT Service plays a vital part in the success of our business strategy. In the role of GI Application Support Engineer, you will provide day to day support for some of our most critical IT services that help us look after the seven million general insurance customers that we are proud to serve.
Focussing on Guidewire Policy and Billing administration systems, you will be part of a small friendly team who provide analysis, fix, test and deployment capabilities across functional, technical and data elements. You will have the opportunity to innovate and drive forward efficiencies to maximise incident and problem management.
You will be an integral part of the team working closely with the business and change counterparts to on-board project change and regular release activities; collaborating with third parties and infrastructure teams to ensure a high quality of service is provisioned through maintaining service levels, minimising outages and managing production incidents.
Whilst Guidewire experience will be advantageous, you must have a background in Java software engineering or development to succeed in this role. Previous work with SQL or Oracle database technologies is important too. You’ll ideally be ITIL Certified, and have the ability to digest large and abstract problems allowing you to translate technical jargon into actionable business recommendations.
Alongside the ability to analyse and problem solve, we are looking for someone who has good communication skills and can present well: both written and verbal; adapting delivery style for internal customers of varying technical knowledge and seniority.
