GM UK aims to be the leading Capital Markets service provider to the Clients of the bank.  Securities Finance UK (SFUK) seeks to provide a professional and sustainable service offering to its clients and strong and consistent returns to the bank on designated trading books within the approved mandate and the bank’s risk management framework.  This is achieved by providing securities and cash liquidity to the bank’s internal and external clients through SFUK’s extensive access to their Financial Institutions relationships.

Your job

Securities Finance (SF) is one of the core product offerings within ALM/Treasury.  Global Markets is the heart of ABN AMRO’s Corporate & Institutional Banking (C&IB).
London is the home to the largest number of the bank’s Financial Institution clients and the global hub for the Securities Finance industry, as such SFUK plays a pivotal role in the bank’s desire to have a sustainable Securities Finance offering to their clients.  The department’s main clients are clearing banks, prime brokers, banks, pension funds, asset managers, central banks, and insurance companies. Internally GM and ABN AMRO Clearing rely heavily on services offered by SF.  Securities Finance activities are delivered through Stock Loans, Repurchase Agreements, and any other products recorded on the approved products list.

Servicing the bank’s clients’ securities finance requirements with a view to achieving the bank’s annual prudential and commercial Securities Finance goals whilst adhering to the bank’s risk limits and the department’s trading mandate.

  • Assist desk in activities relating to execution of Securities Finance transactions to fulfil the bank’s clients requirements

  • Undertake all allocated regulatory training

  • Adhere to all risk limits, procedures, and parameters set in the GM UK Trading Mandate

  • Manage designated trading book(s) to minimise risk to the bank whilst optimising the banks prudential and return & revenue opportunities. Endeavour to meet financial targets set by Management

  • Provide professional service to the bank’s internal and external clients to create sustainable value to client and bank

  • Keep up to date on any regulatory and industry developments to enable continued professional client service and high risk management standards required

  • Seek process improvements and value chain optimisation opportunities

  • Where required participation in projects and initiatives relating to SFUK business

ABN AMRO UK is part of the Corporate Banking business line and operates the following businesses in the UK:

  • Corporate and Institutional Banking – which includes  Corporate Banking, Clearing Global Markets - Sales & Trading, Escrow & Settlement, and Financial Institutions 

  • Commercial Banking which includes Asset Based Finance and International Desk, which provides transactional banking services

Our business lines are supported by a number of functions such as Risk, Compliance, Legal, IT, Finance (Including Tax), Business Management and Human Resources. We currently employ approx. 380 individuals in the UK.

Your profile
  • University education or professional qualification

  • Certification required (as part of SMR & Certification Regime)

  • Knowledge and understanding of IT

  • Financial insight and affinity with related products

  • Experience within front office environment or part of a capital markets product value chain

  • Knowledge of Securities Finance industry and/or products an advantage

  • Ability to communicate clearly and openly within a professional environment

  • Competencies to include: Customer Orientation, Performance Orientation, Risk Consciousness, Stress Resistance, Networking and Cost Consciousness
