About the role

In the role of Senior BI Developer, you will act as a data engineer contributing to a prestigious project at LV=GI.  Whilst working with our third party partners, you will be responsible for maintaining the BICO standards by working closely with both internal and external teams.  Being embedded in this project, you will own the technical deliver of BI for a new insurance product.

This high profile project will see you building out data models within Azure, working tightly with our third party partners to keep them aligned to the GI MI Data Strategy and ensuring the data model and outputs, such as transmittals and data views, are in line with expectations.

You will design, develop and maintain part of the central data model, and lead the overall model design.  By acting as a lead in the delivery of the system, you will deliver accurate project estimates of size and complexity, and manage business stakeholders’ expectations accordingly.  Your working relationships with these stakeholders will allow you to readily communicate business requirements back into the project team, and provide innovative solutions and designs to counter these needs or problems. 

As the BI Developer, and liaison between the wider BI Development team and the project, you will lead document evidence of the test plans and results that you lead, plan and execute, as well as maintain an up to date knowledge of technology trends within financial services, maintaining your status as the Subject Matter Expert.

About you

As an experienced BI Data Engineer, your proven aptitude in mainstream software development, and your experience of working alongside internal teams and external/third party resources, will be required in this role.  Your ability to organise and lead technical teams to successful project delivery and BAU activity will be evidenced in your CV.

Your exposure to Azure, strong SQL and Data Factory will make you a great fit for the work on this project.  Considerable experience of Data Warehousing and Data Modelling is also a requirement of the role.  It would be advantageous to your application if you had any experience with Databricks, ER/Studio too.

Other tools and technologies we are looking for include: ETL, Data Platform, JSON and MongoDB.

LV=GI projects are increasingly Agile, but your exposure to other methodologies such as Waterfall and V alongside Scrum/Safe and ability to adapt to different styles depending on the changing needs of a project will allow you fit into the workstream quickly.

Any of your previous work as a BI Developer or Engineer within financial services will help you to have a deeper understanding and ancticipation of business needs and translate these into functional and technical solutions.
