 A Claims Adjuster must provide a quality focussed claims service and is responsible for ensuring the effective and prompt settlement of claims notified to the Professional Indemnity (PI) part of the Specialty Lines Team.

 The investigation and negotiation of claims within defined authority limits is a key part of this position, as is setting of accurate case reserves.  Contributing to high level technical output from the team, and contributing to a positive and supportive team culture – the Claims Adjuster will be responsible for the management of external counsel and experts both locally and internationally.  You will also need to promptly handle and resolve all claims enquiries from customers, brokers and third parties.

 This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure effective and prompt settlement of PI claims in our Specialty Lines business area.

  • Investigate and negotiate claims within defined authority limits.

  • Setting accurate case reserves.

  • Contributing to high level technical output from the team, putting the Customer at the heart of what we do.

  • Contributing to a positive and supportive team culture.

  • Management of external counsel and experts both locally and internationally.

  • Prompt handling and resolution of all claims enquiries from customers, brokers and third parties.

  • Report to the Professional Indemnity Team Leader and Specialty Claims Head where required.


Your skills and experience:

  •  Some experience of working within the Specialty Lines technical claims environment with a particular emphasis on PI claims.

  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness.

  • Team player.

  • Understanding and a developing knowledge of the London market insurance environment.

  • Numeracy and literacy skills (to A level /degree level/equivalent).

  • Some knowledge of the products and services offered by the Specialty Lines team.

  • High Level market, risk and business awareness.

  • Understanding of legislation and legal liability.

  • Ability in interpreting policy covers.

  • Relevant business/industry qualification.

  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service.
