Commercial Pricing Actuary – (P/T, job-share or F/T)

Location: London

The opportunity:

Have you recently or nearly qualified as an Actuary? Are you looking for that next step in your career? If so, this could be the next step you are looking for. We have an opportunity to work on multiple business lines and with some of our largest clients and schemes. You will join our team based in our London office and you will also have the flexibility to work from home occasionally.

This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.

Key Responsibilities:

Case Pricing

You will help lead the case pricing of our larger clients and schemes. This is across all lines of business. This will involve large account pricing, internal customer, broker and client relationship management and contributing the development of new business and renewal propositions. You will also have the opportunity to be responsible for reviewing junior actuaries’ work and development and improvement of tools and processes.

Portfolio Management

You will lead and develop portfolio management and strategy across these multiple lines of business across Energy, construction and specialty lines. Activity includes:

  • Monthly analysis of portfolios

  • Reinsurance strategy

  • Working closely with the internal underwriting teams

  • Business planning

  • Ad-hoc deep dives/portfolio analyses

Model Development

You will play a major role in development and simplification of the Zurich rating tool landscape. This will be across local and global tools. You will develop and maintain rating structures that allow accurate and flexible pricing for our underwriters.


This role is part of a wider team and there may be the scope for line management. This will also include the coaching and mentoring other members of the team.

Your skills and experience:
  • Nearly or recently qualified with London Market pricing experience

  • Experience of large account pricing

  • Strong commercial knowledge

  • Excellent communication and people skills with a track record of dealing with internal stakeholders and external customers and brokers

  • Experience of specialty lines is desirable but not essential

  • Excellent IT skills is a must and it would be great if you have some coding experience
