The Insight team’s key purpose is to provide actionable insight to help make more customer-led decisions and improve customer and commercial outcomes.
This role will be key to ensuring the Insight team take a 360 view of our organisations; markets, customers, competitors and megatrends; to promote greater ‘outside in’ thinking across EDF, to guarantee opportunities are identified and developed at pace.
This is a pivotal role within the team, collaborating with multiple stakeholders across the business including; Customer Experience, Sales, Brand and Marketing, to maintain our competitive advantage in the energy market.
The Person
The successful candidate will:

Provide critical, systematic insight on EDF's competitors, providing intelligence which will both inform decisions to drive growth and de-risk strategies.

Define and provide deep and regular competitor intelligence (CI) desk research on competitors’; products, propositions, marketing communications strategies and their customer journeys.

Create compelling MI output; competitor intelligence guides, sales support tools and playbooks to support our go-to approach for acquisition and retention activity.

Identify and assemble competitor intelligence across multiple data sources including; BEIS, Ofgem data, Cornwall Insight, competitors’ websites, press releases, social listening tools (BrandWatch, Brand Total), Commetrix and Signal Media.

Regular, well-structured CI reports including; product side-by-side analysis, identifying and regularly keeping up-to-date points of difference, proposition analysis, marketing strategy and market share context.

In addition to reporting, the role is accountable for delivering ad hoc competitor and market analysis, working alongside our primary researchers and analysts.

Collaborate with team members to create a quarterly portfolio of recommendations; to provide actionable insight to help make more customer-led decisions and improve customer and commercial outcomes.

Collaborate with SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) across the business, including; Customer Experience, Sales, Brand and Marketing on more technical assessments of competitors.

Partner with our primary researchers and analysts across ad hoc deep dive insight projects, which require specific competitor intelligence context.

Partner with team members to deliver synthesised competitor intelligence, data analytics and primary research results, where required.

Ensure competitor intelligence is timely, trustworthy and actionable, to drive decisions across the business.
The Skills

You will be a highly skilled desk researcher / analyst; with a flair for synthesising multiple secondary research sources into succinct and well-designed reporting output for senior stakeholders.

A commercially minded, self-starter with excellent deck creation and report writing skills.

At least 5 years of competitor intelligence / desk research experience either in a strategic planning, product or marketing environment.

BA, BSc. or equivalent experience preferred.

Proven ability to analyse existing and new products, marketing activity, megatrends and translate this information into actionable intelligence in the form of succinct reports and toolkits.

Excellent presentation, oral and written communications skills.

Demonstrated ability to work confidently in a matrix environment, across various business units.

Strong interpersonal skills and great team player.

Strong knowledge of the energy market and industry data source is highly desirable.

Knowledge of Insight platforms beneficial e.g. social listening tool (Brandwatch, Brand Total) and Commetrix.
