Content Designer part time

Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Content Designer for an initial part-time (17.5 hrs) contract until the end of March 2022 on a salary of £32,794 - £38,252 per annum pro-rata. Due to the current circumstances this role will be remote based for the foreseeable future.

Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop and implement the digital channels content strategies and their subsequent delivery plans
- Design content to meet user needs using a range of content research techniques to achieve this
- Create meaningful user journeys on our web channels
- Use specialist content writing skills and be skilled in editing others' work
- Identify, evaluate and address any content gaps
- Monitor and evaluate the content management system's performance from a content perspective. You will provide recommendations to the development team to improve the system
- Implement, monitor and evaluate accessibility standards and SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) practices
- Be responsible for ensuring content is optimised for web performance
- Run User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for any content-related projects.
- Manage third parties for any content development we may outsource
- Actively seek out data that will help evaluate existing content and inform future content activity such as interrogating Google Analytics and Hotjar
- Contribute ideas to the yearly and quarterly planning cycle and be accountable for delivering content against the agreed roadmap for the year
- Foster relationships with key content business owners and subject matter experts across the business, and sometimes outwith the business
- Influence, engage and provide content direction to all parts of the organisation
- Provide peer review to other content designers

Essential Skills:

- Relevant Degree (SCVQ Level 9) and/or equivalent professional qualification/experience in digital content design or ideally, in Journalism
- Experience of leading and delivering web content design projects
- Experience of working with content management systems such as Umbraco and Drupal
- Experience of running multiple projects simultaneously within agreed parameters
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Skilled at writing in different styles and tone to create a variety of content types from landing pages to core content pages
- Good editorial judgement, tactical awareness and decision-making skills
- Have a solid understanding of the content management process and its governance
- The ability to create and maintain website taxonomy
- Skilled at developing web user journeys
- Ability to build creative content solutions to business and user needs
- Ability to explore issues from a broader perspective to identify and address root cause across user needs
- Skilled at influencing others
- Ability to think strategically and to understand implications and wider business impact of any decisions taken
- Ability to demonstrate significant experience of writing and editing engaging content for the web
