PwC has aspirations to continue growing its Legal offering, with the growth of the corporate practice playing a significant part in these plans.

The new role will sit within a recently formed part of our corporate team, which is located in our More London office. The team works alongside our existing corporate legal team in the UK which currently consists of 11 partners and directors and c.50 other fee earners. The new team is part of a wider group of lawyers in More London, which includes regulatory, banking and finance, real estate, pensions, governance and employment legal.

The team works on a broad range of high quality, corporate legal projects, including M&A, investments and venture capital, joint ventures, buy-side and sell-side legal due diligence and large international corporate restructuring projects. The team has a particular focus on working with financial services clients in the broadest sense, including banks, insurers, asset and wealth managers, payments firms, fintech businesses and real estate.

The team is fully integrated with professional services colleagues across all disciplines and service lines, including risk and regulatory, consulting, tax and deal advisory

About the role
  • The successful candidate(s) will be energetic, enthusiastic and keen to embrace the challenge of turning their hand to many different types of corporate work rather than doing similar deals time and time again. The nature of working so closely alongside professionals in PwC's various teams across London and the regions, as well as worldwide, leads to an incredibly diverse range of work that the team is asked to assist with. We also have team members out on secondment to high profile clients in the UK and overseas.

  • You will be valued and given responsibility within a suitably supported learning framework.

  • A high level of technical competence is expected as well as knowledge of the mechanics of corporate transactional work.

  • Each member of the team is encouraged to develop relationships with clients and with the professionals in PwC with whom we work on a daily basis.

  • You will be expected to run certain matters under the supervision of one of the Corporate partners or directors and to work closely alongside the other fee earners in the team.

  • You will collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients using PwC’s legal technology platforms and resources.

  • Organisational skills and the ability to take on significant levels of responsibility on transactions will therefore be key attributes. A desire to network and build relationships within PwC and with clients is also important.

  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales or equivalent common law jurisdiction

  • Excellent academic background

  • Experience in corporate restructuring and M&A projects for clients in financial services

  • Clear, articulate and confident in written and verbal communication

  • Strong client service skills

  • International experience is advantageous

  • Experience of networking and building relationships with existing clients and /or other professional advisors

  • Enjoys operating in a collaborative environment
