Your responsibilities will be wide-ranging, giving you the chance to making a significant impact across Defra group finance. Managing a team budget of around £3m, you will be accountable for the quality and performance of the Environment Agency’s (EA) National Project Assurance Service, assuring corporate risk for an annual expenditure of around £300m, but also the maintenance of the EA’s Quality Management system, which covers the agency’s key legal, HR and operational documents.
All senior leaders are expected to drive transformation across their business area and foster cross-government change initiatives, but you will also drive wider cultural change across Defra group finance.
We are looking for candidates with sound experience in leading large, complex projects. You should also be experienced in driving continuous improvement and implementing organisational change. Leading finance teams at a senior level is key here, and you should be comfortable communicating at all levels across multiple teams and departments. Being able to develop a team’s expertise and holding yourself accountable to high standards is essential.
