Education Policy Assistant

The Royal Society of Biology works in coordination and collaboration with the Association for Science Education, Institute of Physics, Royal Society, and Royal Society of Chemistry on education policy. RSB's education policy team will be supporting this work through administrative support.

We are seeking a part time Education Policy Assistant who will provide secretariat and administrative support for meetings of the five organisations including: organisation of management and thematic meetings, away days, dinners, and occasionally events such as the annual Talking Science debate.

The successful applicant will work closely with RSB's Head of Education Policy, and will be responsible for day to day support of this coordinated and collaborative approach, and will frequently liaise with staff members at the other organisations as well as external stakeholders such as government, regulators, exam boards etc.

The role focuses on policy areas covering primary and secondary education in the sciences across the UK, and would suit candidates from a variety of backgrounds for example an entry level candidate interested in policy; a primary or secondary teacher looking to transition from classroom teaching; or a candidate with experience in science education looking to return to work after a career break.

This role is a fixed term, part-time position, which may be arranged across the working week, based at the Royal Society of Biology's new London office at 1 Naoroji Street, WC1X 0GB. Occasional travel or out of hours working may be required.



Fixed Term: 2.5 years
Part time: 0.4 FTE
Salary: £25,000 pro rata
Suggested normal working days: Wednesday and Thursday but alternative time distributions can be discussed at interview
