Finance Director, part-time

We are an entertainment agency working with intellectual property rights, with big plans to launch two new concepts in 2022. One is a touring pre-school children’s entertainment concept in conjunction with a major pre-school children’s brand, and the other is in audio content and theatre.

We are a small team of specialists with backgrounds in the entertainment industries, all of whom work flexibly. Many of us are used to the juggle of school drop-offs and work, and we really understand and support flexible part-time working.  This is a genuinely flexible role to be done (within reason) in hours of your choosing, and in any location.  Occasional meetings in London may be beneficial, but online meetings can replace all other interaction. Offices are currently in Hampstead.

We are looking for a strategic and operationally experienced finance director for our small group of businesses, including the agency and two operating businesses in the entertainment sector. Experience of start-ups and fundraising is desirable.  The ability to develop thoughtful forecasting models based on carefully considered and data-driven assumptions is essential.

Responsibilities include:

Developing and maintaining the existing business models and business plans

Supporting fund-raising activity with forecasts, financial analysis and investor information

Support the senior management team in developing and managing budgets and operating plans

Managing accounting (management and statutory), book-keeping and financial control including developing regular management reports

Time: a minimum of 1 day per week, on a flexible basis, with more time (no more than 2 days) as and when required. (This could be an allocated day, two half days, or a set number of hours across the week at times of your choosing, provided that attendance at certain weekly meetings (never on Fridays) is facilitated).

This is a great role for someone with an accountancy background, ideally with some finance director/financial controller experience, who is perhaps looking to return to the workplace after a break, or who is looking for some mental stimulation after some time away from work. It might also suit someone looking to build a portfolio of FD roles, as long as they retained the flexibility to assist us where necessary.

We are a fun, relaxed bunch, all with lots of experience in our respective fields, looking to make new and interesting ideas and concepts happen.  We would love a bright, super numerate, flexible person to join us on our journey, someone happy to share their opinions on all elements of the business, not just the financial elements. This is very much a team player sort of a role!
