If you’re an accountant who enjoys detail, wants to make a difference and help an organisation to develop and improve their processes and systems then this is the role for you.  

ESDAS are recruiting for a Finance Manager.  We need support managing our day to day finances and ensuring that our finance processes and systems are as effective as possible.  You will get to work with a small dynamic team of people from a range of backgrounds with a passion for supporting people in difficult times.  

Key Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for three key areas:

  • Day to day management of the charity accounts and monthly reporting 

  • Reviewing our current Finance systems and processes and creating a project management plan to ensure that you can deliver improvements over time 

  • Upgrading our Finance System – including identifying a suitable solution

What difference will you make?

A massive one! The money you manage will quite literally save lives. ESDAS teams and volunteers save lives every month through the provision of direct services to survivors of domestic abuse and their children.  Our turnover is in the region of £550K.  

Without sound financial management - it won't happen.   You will play a vital part in helping our clients. We are a small charity operating on a large scale both within East Surrey and beyond.

What are we looking for?

You should be an experienced accountant, passionate about numbers, with excellent communication skills.  Ideally, you will have worked in the charity sector and have an understanding of charity accounts and restricted and unrestricted funding or be willing to learn this.

You will have attention to detail, the ability to work unsupervised ( though of course we will help you as much as you need us to) and to be able to explain and display things in simple terms, so that all trustees and staff can understand what you are telling us.  

Our clients are at the heart of everything we do.   Whilst this role does not involve client contact, you should be passionate about helping survivors and children who have experienced domestic abuse.  This is a great way to utilise your finance skills to give back in some way.

Due to the high degree of flexibility offered in this role we are open to consider candidates on both an employed or self-employed basis.  


ESDAS was established in 1993 and began delivering services in East Surrey in 1998. Our purpose has always been the relief of hardship, need and distress of those who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse (DA) including any associated children.

We are proud to have developed one of the first community (non-refuge based) Outreach services in the country which to this day operates on a needs-led survivor focused basis and continues to be a model of replication and best practice both locally and nationally. Our Outreach Services provide advice, advocacy, information and support on a range of issues including criminal and civil law, benefits, debt, housing, safeguarding, risk and safety planning as well as empowering survivors to take control of their own futures. We aim to provide holistic services to avoid survivors and their children being re-traumatised by repeating their experiences to multiple professionals. 

Location:  Remote Working - Our offices are in Redhill and you will need to be able to visit the office on an ad hoc basis in line with business needs

Job Type:  Part Time, 1 year Fixed Term Contract, 8 hours per week, ESDAS’ office hours are 9 to 5pm and you will need to spend at least some of your time operating during these hours 

Salary:  £45,000 pro rata
