BuyMeOnce is a new, innovative and sustainable ecommerce retailer on a mission. We are seeking a part-time finance lead to create and manage improved financial processes and operational efficiencies.

We’re looking for a self-starter with excellent communication skills who is able to both lead and listen, helping guide the company through further funding rounds if necessary. 

Ideally the candidate will have an interest in sustainability and the protection of the planet for future generations. 

About us

Founded in 2016, BuyMeOnce is an exciting start-up whose purpose is to change the way the world shops. The company finds, curates and sells the most durable and long-lasting products on the planet and helps educate consumers on the benefits of sustainable shopping. BMO completed a first round of seed funding this year and plan to scale internationally. The company is currently operational in the UK and the US.

We are currently a passionate and driven team of seven. The focus of the company’s activities centre around researching products to be sold on our website, BuyMeOnce.com. This is supported by the maintenance of the ecommerce platform, digital marketing and the creation of supporting editorial and mixed media content.

BMO also runs seasonal pop-ups and plans to move into bricks and mortar as we scale. 

 

Working Hours

Hours are highly flexible, we envision one to two days a week would be ample for the duties outlined. 

 

Primary Duties

  • Ensuring rigorous tracking of key business financials

  • Aligning operational and financial planning

  • Liaising with the company lawyer, bookkeeper and accountants to make sure all legal and financial filings are done on time and in good order across both UK and USA 

  • Supporting the CEO to create quarterly shareholder updates

  • Creating projections for financial modelling and to support fundraising

  • Ownership of HR documentation and administration

  • Taking over the duties of Company Secretary

 

Secondary duties

  • Supporting the team for board meeting document preparations

  • Supporting the CEO with funding applications

  • Supporting the CEO with occasional miscellaneous administrative tasks

 

Remuneration

As we are a start-up, our remuneration is modestly competitive. However, as we are looking for a long term hire, the remuneration will scale with the business and there is the possibility of an options provision following the successful completion of a probationary period. 

We can offer a day rate of £250 or hourly rate of £30 with a cap of £1,500 a month. 

 

Office

You will have a desk available at our offices near London Bridge. The building is an exciting hub of sustainability and houses the largest collection of environmental businesses in Europe. Ideally the candidate would be able to work from the office on a semi-regular basis, but can also work from home.
