Financial Accountant - Oxford (maternity cover, part-time 3 days/week)

The position

holder will act as a Key Finance Business Partner for the Novo Nordisk Research Centre Oxford (NNRCO), providing key financial support including accurate month end close.
Key areas of responsibility: 
Ensure the completion of the month end process for Novo Nordisk Research Centre Oxford:
  • Prepare month end accruals and prepayments 
  • Recharge monthly costs 
  • Liaise with the Business Support Manager in Oxford to ensure events/transactions captured in the Reporting System and to understand monthly material deviations of actual v budget 
  • Assist with the monthly Cash Flow preparation 
  • Capitalisation of fixed assets 
  • Additionally, you will:

  • Be viewed as a Business Partner to NNRCO (despite being remote) 
  • Provide input into the Budget setting process as necessary & ensure understanding of budget to explain realised vs budget commentary 
  • Be responsible for annually review transfer pricing supporting documentation 
  • Review and amend when required (at least annually) inter department agreement between NNRCO and Gatwick. 
  • Support Accounts Payable to ensure accurate and timely response to NNRCO AP questions 
  • Support the Taxation Manager with the review of invoices for Corporation Tax Purposes 
  • Support the Taxation Manager with information to support the R & D Tax claim 
  • Embed Oxford processes into existing UK procedures 
  • Provide Financial support to Oxford on site as required 
  • Be responsible for ad hoc Projects 
  • Qualifications
    You are educated to a degree or equivalent level and are Part/Full Qualified Accountant. You have knowledge of UK VAT rules and have has basic corporation tax knowledge as well as are familiar with Statutory Accounts Reporting requirements. 

    You have proven success in a busy accounts department with the ability to work to very tight deadlines. Additionally, you have an up to date and working knowledge of preparation of month end close and working with auditors. Ability to effectively plan, prioritise, execute and follow-up in a timely manner and proactively identify and mitigate risks is also highly desirable.


    Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. This role is part time for 3 days a week & ability to travel to Oxford periodically.
