We are seeking a part-time (three days a week) Flood Risk Officer with suitable experience and qualification who is able to help proactively manage and reduce flood risk in our District. This is a new role and you will have the opportunity to influence how the service is provided working with our Building Control Manager, our planning and environmental staff, and liaising with the County Council as Lead Local Flood Authority. The job involves both desk-based work and out in the field assessing watercourse conditions. You will advise internal and external customers on maintenance, drainage improvements and infrastructure enhancements.
You will have a strong knowledge of hydrology and fluvial hydraulics and possess experience in the management of “ordinary watercourses.” In addition, you will be the custodian of our records regarding watercourse locations and conditions. You will therefore have good IT skills relating to Excel spreadsheets and GIS
