Each year, the UK firm appoints a high performing audit manager or senior manager to work on secondment with Global Assurance Quality - Learning & Education (GAQ - L&E) for 12 months from 1 September 2021 (individuals are seconded by Learning & Development in the UK and sub-seconded to GAQ-L&E). Working in a team of individuals based across the network, the successful candidate will support the design, development and evaluation of the global PwC Curricula. These curricula are created and maintained for the use of the network of PwC firms to train and develop their audit practitioners in PwC Audit methodology, tools and templates. 

Current priorities that successful candidates can expect to work on include: 

  • Maintaining, updating, redesigning and developing the global PwC curricula - this includes updating the PwC Audit Curriculum for the extensive changes expected as a result of ISA 315 (R): Identifying and Assessing the Risks of Material Misstatement; 

  • Embedding Assurance Transformation deliverables in the global PwC curricula in the year following their global launch; 

  • Developing the Global Audit Quality training programme; and/or 

  • Creating the global version of the US Annual Update Training 

For senior manager candidates, this will include a primary focus on developing materials for more experienced target audiences or more complex subject matters. 

The main responsibilities of this role and the competencies required are described below. 

Main responsibilities 

As a subject matter champion, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include: 

  • Bringing recent practice experience (including a good working knowledge of PwC Audit methodology and working virtually with dispersed teams), territory perspectives, and current learner insights to the GAQ - L&E design and development process. 

  • Creating materials for use in training suitable for senior practitioners, including example audit documentation and case facts to highlight specific issues and learning points. 

  • Writing and updating materials to support instructors around the Network in the delivery of successful audit training. 

  • Drafting and updating scripts covering technical audit content in an engaging and effective format for delivery in eLearn and micro learn solutions. 

  • Drafting and updating post course assessment questions. 

  • Championing the use of global training materials in the Network, specifically in their home territory. ● Drafting internal and external communications to support the successful implementation of training materials in the Network territories. 

Requirements 

High performing Manager or Senior Manager (ideally 1 or 2 rated or equivalent) with a passion for developing others. Candidates should have: 

 

  • At least 4 (Manager) or 6 (Senior Manager) years audit experience. 

  • Strong audit technical skills, including the proficient use of Aura, Halo for Journals, Connect etc. 

  • Excellent written English and verbal communication skills. 

  • Previous experience in L&E instructing, training design and development and/or a strong interest in L&E/adult learning. 

  • Proven ability to manage and prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines. 

  • Good interpersonal and organisation skills. 

  • Excellent teamwork skills. 

  • Ability to work with multicultural teams and sensitivity to cultural implications in learning design and implementation. 

  • Ability to work effectively in a virtual environment with dispersed teams. 

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently. 

  • Experience working on PCAOB engagements is beneficial but not required. 

Note: Less experience or less demonstrated ability in one or more of the above competencies can be compensated by particular strengths in other competencies. Each candidate will be reviewed in light of the combined competencies that they bring to the L&E team.

Work requirements 

The candidate will work as part of a globally dispersed team and: 

  • Are expected to be deployed 100% to the assignment and not retain internal or client service responsibilities during the assignment. 

  • Can expect to work from their home office / territory as part of the GAQ - L&E Team on this assignment. 

  • May be expected to attend meetings at non-traditional times to accommodate time zone differences with team members. 

  • Global travel may be expected - pending the ability to travel internationally post pandemic - including two, 3 week workshops - one in September and one in February/March. These normally take place in London, UK and Tampa, US, respectively; locations for 2021/2022 may be impacted by international travel restrictions as a result of the pandemic. There is also the possibility of additional trips that may vary in duration from two days to one week.

  • An in-depth understanding of process and quality standards in L&E design and development, including evaluations and assessments. 

  • An insight into adult learning theory, transferrable to ongoing coaching interactions and classroom instruction. 

Global and Inclusive: 

  • A greater understanding of how the global network of firms operates. 

  • An understanding and appreciation for how the GAQ - L&E group develops training for the broader PwC Network.

  • An understanding of how various territories implement and deliver training, allowing for a greater appreciation of the global perspectives. 

  • Enhanced skills for working with a global team by operating and collaborating effectively with a mindset that transcends geographic and cultural boundaries. 

  • An increased network of contacts including methodology professionals and peers in other territories. ● Demonstrating cultural sensitivity and dexterity. 

Relationships: 

  • Enhanced communication skills – delivering complex messages succinctly and with impact ● Transferable relationship skills developed by working virtually with various stakeholders and colleagues around the PwC Network. 

  • Listening to the Network in response to the training curriculum and being able to enhance and adapt the curriculum to address common needs and concerns. 

  • Relationships with peers in other territories that they can leverage throughout their career
