Job Title: Group Cost Accountant

Location: City of London

Duration: Initial 6 months

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close processes for Prudential Services Limited (PSL) (the legal entity for Group Cost)
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of half-year & full-year results to Group Financial reporting team
  • Assist in year-end production of statutory reporting & accounts
  • Act as key finance contact on expense claims, in line with company and HMRC policies
  • Ongoing process and system improvement to accommodate business requirements and reporting changes whilst ensuring on-going compliance with relevant financial controls
  • Assist in external and internal audit queries

Key Result Areas:

  • Reporting - production and review. Assist in production of monthly reporting pack including commentary on variances and explanation of trends
  • Technical knowledge - Learn quickly about Prudential and the way we work. In particular, gain an understanding of the financial reporting processes and our finance systems
  • Process development - Improve the efficiency whilst maintaining accuracy of our expenses and budget reporting, optimising the technology and data available
  • Relationship Management - Build strong relationships across Group functions to enable development of in-depth understanding of costs to provide insight to budget holders
  • Financial control and audit - Ensure that a clear audit trail exists and that controls are performed effectively and documented; provide timely and accurate responses to the internal and external auditors.

Core Competences Required:

  • Chartered Accountant or CIMA / ACCA
  • Professional services industry experience, an advantage
  • Organised self-starter able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
  • Able to think flexibly and open to new ideas, with strong problem-solving skills and enthusiasm to improve processes
  • Close attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to liaise with stakeholders from different specialisms in different locations and at different levels of seniority
  • Experience in Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is essential with experience in Workday desirable
  • Advanced level of Excel
