As Group Risk and Compliance Director you will be responsible for:

  • Oversight of the firm’s compliance with the FCA’s Rules. Ensuring a strong working relationship is maintained with the FCA and other regulators

  • You will oversee all of group regulation. To monitor and evaluate existing and emerging legislation, regulation, and case law likely to affect the Company and the industry, reporting to the Board on any key issues by assessing the Company’s exposure and prioritising the resources allocated, whilst taking a commercial and practical approach to risk based challenges and offer appropriate solutions

  • Corporate governance involving external risk reporting to stakeholders

  • Have complete responsibility for the firms group risk framework, ensuring implementation and delivery of risk in the organisation

  • Oversee and develop the Group compliance and risk management strategy to meet the current and future needs of the organisation

  • Contribute to monthly Board Meetings, providing a monthly report to the Board including statistical quantitative analysis and identifying trends in a format to be agreed to include specifically the Group’s governance and compliance, gas safety compliance, court cases, whistleblowing, data breaches and any other areas of potential exposure.

  • Work closely with the Managing Directors, ensuring the best use of joint skills and expertise whereby you are responsible for keeping abreast and alerting the directors to any compliance issues, making recommendations to the Board to ensure compliance.

  • Keep under review Company policies and procedures and documentation to ensure compliance and that they are adhered too within the group.

  • Have overall responsibility for Data protection, Whistleblowing, policies and procedures and monitoring within the group.

  • Conduct internal audits, including liaison with external auditors

  • Assist in pre-completion acquisition due diligence, specifically technical review of target documentation and procedures (by reference to the due diligence bundles or a visit to the acquisition as appropriate), to identify any areas of statutory non-compliance, significant disparity from Company documentation and procedures. Reporting fully to the Board on any issues. Assist in post completion acquisition integration, directing in consultation with the appropriate Managing Director, the implementation of technical and procedural change.

  • Manage the successful delivery of compliance projects ensuring technical excellence and a practical/business driven approach. Support and lead on Group projects as assigned

  • Ensure all staff are fully conversant with and comply with all relevant legislation through annual online learning modules. To ensure all training is up to date and relevant to enable company compliance.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience  

  • Educated to degree level or significant relevant experience.

  • 5 + years of relevant broad based Compliance/Regulatory experience

  • Proven experience and detailed knowledge of FCA rules and current regulatory requirements, such as AML.

  • Knowledge of and a good understanding of current UK/EU Data Protection including changes under the European Union General Data Protection Requirement (“GDPR”) and Data Protection Act.

  • Knowledge of Corporate Governance, compliance requirements and internal risk management.

  • Ability to understand and interpret regulatory requirements and translate effectively in an easy to understand format for the business

  • Proven experience of successfully leading Risk and Compliance teams

  • Strong leadership skills and experience.

We are seeking a Group Risk and Compliance Director. We are offering flexibility and embrace remote work but there will be some meetings that require attendance at our head office in Wokingham (our head office) and in Bournemouth where team members are based.
