Head of Finance - Part-Time

Eden Scott is working in partnership with a Scottish entrepreneur to appoint a Head of Finance to support various business interests of the family. This is a part-time role where you will support a variety of businesses including a private equity investment as it progresses from early stage to full commercialisation.

You will be involved in preparing the monthly financial reports of the businesses for senior stakeholders, as well as being involved in budgeting and forecasting, cashflow projections and where appropriate overseeing fundraising to ensure the businesses are appropriately funded.

You will be involved in assisting with any other personal and professional business interests.

The role is based in Edinburgh and will be flexible to suit the right candidate.

To perform at the required level in this role, you will be a qualified accountant with 10+ years of experience working in a financial control, forecasting and/or reporting role with a strong track record of working with growing businesses.

Personally, you will be versatile, organised, conscientious, analytical and methodical and be able to work in a small team to deliver excellent service to a demanding stakeholder base.

The Role & Responsibilities include:

  • Overall accountability for monthly management accounts, regular financial re-forecasting, annual budgeting and strategic financial planning.
  • Accountable for the financial controls and governance, ensuring that the P&L and balance sheet is managed, reconciled and understood on a monthly basis and all financial returns are completed on a timely basis.
  • Accountable for annual financial audits and the provision of annual statutory accounts.
  • Work with the finance team to meet the day to day requirements of the business together with being an integral part of the management team.
  • To be considered for this role you will have the following experience:

  • Degree in Accountancy or similar relevant qualification and have a recognised Accountancy qualification such as CA, ACMA, ACCA or ACA.
  • This person will be determined and show tenacity when facing challenging situations and feedback in what is a demanding environment.
  • Self-starter, capable of operating at a level well beyond the day to day operational finance but with the ability to work hands-on the numbers.
  • Strong control and process orientation, logical thinker and someone with analytical ability to tell the story of the numbers and offer business advice.
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills to collaborate effectively, build team consensus and influence others.
