About the role:

Eldon Street Heritage Action Zone Project Officer Job Advert

The Eldon Street High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) is an exciting 4-year partnership project funded by Barnsley Council and Historic England. The HSHAZ will deliver a conservation-led grants scheme for historic properties on Eldon Street - one of Barnsley’s important historic high streets – as well as an ambitious and creative community engagement and cultural programme. The scheme has an important role in developing a sustainable model for future growth and development of the high street, as part of the ongoing regeneration of Barnsley Town Centre.

The post sits within the Place Directorate at Barnsley Council. As HAZ Project Officer you will help to deliver and co-ordinate the programme and act as an advocate for heritage-led regeneration in the town centre. This will involve working with a range of local stakeholders, including businesses, property owners, community groups and cultural partners and helping to develop and provide engagement and training opportunities. You will also help to develop a high-street focussed enterprise scheme for young people, working with local partners. This is a fixed-term job share for 18 months with our existing HAZ project officer.

This post is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join an ambitious and creative team as part of this major new heritage-led scheme, delivering innovative and exciting heritage-led projects within Barnsley town centre. We are keen to hear from people who have experience of working with historic buildings, are passionate about historic places and have a track record of working effectively with local businesses and other stakeholders to deliver shared and positive outcomes.

Interviews will be held on the 17th November 2020.
