Job Description

Acteon comprises 1900 employees in 60+ locations worldwide. Sage People was implemented in 2019-2020 as the central HR Information System (HRIS). It has been adopted by all Acteon companies globally and replaced existing systems which were in various states of maturity.

Acteon are currently looking to hire an enthusiastic & efficient HR Systems Manager on a permanent, part time basis(ideally 2/3 days per week). The successful candidate will be critical to the success of the HRIS adoption. The post holder will effectively "own" the system and be responsible for maintaining and enhancing it to ensure all business and reporting requirements are met.

The HR Systems Manager will work with team members, managers, employees and relevant external vendors to create efficiencies and optimise business processes and provide a user-friendly experience to the 1900+end users of the HRIS. The postholder will be the "go to" person for all technical HRIS queries and will therefore need to ensure rigorous change management processes are in place be able to re-configure the system to meet business needs and respond to internal and external stakeholder requests.

The role may have the opportunity to work on broader Group system developments and implementations as the organization embarks on a change journey in many areas.

There is flexibility for a home based role with a requirement to travel as and when needed to our Operations Centre in central London The post holder must be able and willing to travel within the UK and to our international subsidiaries if required.


  • Applies best practices for using Sage People, creates workflow efficiencies and provides a user-friendly experience for employees, management and other system administrators

  • Configures, maintains and enhances the system set up and business processes to achieve desired outcomes

  • Manages system maintenance and updates, including the release of upgrades

  • Initiates set-up and launch of recurring and unique tasks within the HRIS

  • Supports the integration process of Sage People with other existing systems

  • Creates and maintains relevant links to other new systems within the group

  • Provides counsel to the group-wide HR community and end users as the HRIS subject matter expert; creates and delivers training and development materials where required

  • Maintains data integrity, confidentiality and system security at all times

  • Provides desktop support to managers and employees as required

  • Develops, enhances and implements new solutions for optimising processes by demonstrating a clear understanding of the latest technologies, determines which of those solutions would be of benefit to HR and then applies them

  • Design, develop, test and implements technical people-based solutions across the business

  • Builds and maintains an effective working relationship within internal IT dept

  • Maintains strong relationship with service provider and challenges ability to self-perform where possible

  • Manages the design and build of reports and dashboards to specific company and senior leadership team requirements

  • Works with communications and the HR business partners to effectively create communications as required for engagement of employees on relevant updates and launches

  • Challenges associated costs and budgets accordingly to ensure system is cost effective

  • Continually looks for ways that the system can enable business improvements and efficiencies

  • Troubleshoots HRIS issues and makes necessary amendments to both the HRIS and Salesforce to ensure maximum availability of the system


  • Experience of working with Sage People/Fairsail (preferred) or a similar HRIS system is a minimum requirement

  • Proven system configuration experience

  • Understands HR processes, demonstrates an aptitude for continuous learning and has the ability to train others

  • Exemplary communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Understands complex information and requirements and is able to communicate the key facts in straightforward way

  • Demonstrable success in a similar position within a multi-office environment, ideally across multiple countries

  • Precise attention to detail

  • Microsoft Excel Superuser

  • Experience delivering system implementations utilising global templates

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to create strong relationships within the business

  • Must have a proven track record in HR data analytics and a passion for ensuring data excellence

  • Be driven and have the ability to remain composed and achieve multiple deliverables under pressure

  • Experience leading on multiple projects with different timeframes and solutions simultaneously

  • An ability to interpret business needs and translate into system-based solutions
