Purpose of role:

Innovation is at the core of our firm's purpose of delivering legal certainty in a changing world. It runs through everything we do - our legal advice, the way we deliver our services to clients and the way we run our business. We align our initiatives to three streams: Technology & process, partnerships & collaborations, and people & culture.

The Practice Innovation & Efficiency (PIE) teams and the Ideas Pathway are a key part of our People and Culture stream of work. PIE teams are in place in every region and practice groups across the firm. The teams divide their time between idea generation and embedding innovation initiatives to help drive innovation and efficiency in our day to day working practices. The Ideas Pathway is our ideation platform, designed to allow us to collect and share ideas on a global scale.

Key dimensions:


  • Work closely with practice innovation teams to ensure ideas generated are captured in the Ideas Pathway for the benefit of both the relevant practice and the firm more widely
  • Act as a champion to change mindsets to encourage people to be more open to proposing and piloting ideas
  • Keep abreast of innovative activities underway in other parts of the firm, at other firms, clients and industries to consider relevance for relevant practice groups
  • Work closely with global peers to manage innovation meetings/engagement and ensure ideas are logged and tracked through the pathway
  • Act as the first point of contact for identified practice groups for any queries relating to new ideas or innovation more generally
  • To market innovation initiatives on behalf of the practice and the firm


  • Advise and facilitate the prioritisation of ideas generated by the practice innovation teams
  • Manage the prioritised innovation ideas through to execution, working closely with the technology team and project management teams as required
  • Help drive forward practice innovation plans and ensure regular communication of ideas and initiatives between practice innovation teams and business teams to ensure cross pollination of ideas and initiatives
  • Report regularly on ideas being generated, status and progression through the pipelines


  • Work closely with the I&E Comms Advisor to utilise comms channels to raise awareness of ideas being implemented / executed, and to increase transparency of what ideas are in the pipeline
  • Help to join the dots between various teams to ensure that the firm is joining up on ideas and solutions
  • Work with colleagues to report regularly on practice innovation activity
  • Actively contribute to the Innovation Steering Group with regional updates
