Java Distributed Junior Developer

The Role:

This Java developer position is to extend, maintain and support our strategic multi-product applications, in particular covering Cash Confirmations Regulatory and Client demands. The candidate will be called upon to create and influence the entire development lifecycle from system definition to deployment.

The role is part-time: the holder will work the equivalent of a 3-day working week, contract negotiable.

The Confirmations group is a diverse global team of motivated technologists with experience in building scalable distributed systems.  Applications range from high-throughput low-complexity to low-throughput high-complexity workflows. Current members of the team are skilled in Java, JavaScript, C#, Python, Perl, Linux, database design, web interface, and agile development techniques.

Key responsibilities of this role are:

  1. Ownership of implementation, design, testing, documentation and maintenance of components

  2. Active Problem Solving of issues, including Business Analysis where applicable

  3. Contribution to future strategy and standards via documentation, design and code reviews

  4. Production Support of the existing Confirmations system

  5. Knowledge sharing with our global team

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience
  • Prior experience of Development in small local and global teams
  • Agile Development Methodologies
  • Core Java 8, Design Patterns, Spring, Hibernate, SQL, XML, Linux, Perl/scripting

Skills Desired:

  • Experience in Web Development (Angular, JavaScript, HTML5), Web Services (REST and SOAP)
  • Tuning / Performance Analysis
  • Behavioral Driven Development
  • Appreciation of Machine Learning, Big Data
