PwC is growing its Legal offering, with the growth of the corporate practice playing a significant part in these plans.

The 12 month role will sit within our corporate team, which is located in our [Embankment / Birmingham] office. The team currently consists of 13 partners and directors and c.50 other fee earners. The Corporate team typically advises large global corporates (both listed and private) and multinationals on complex cross-border and domestic intra-group business restructurings, frequently working alongside PwC Tax and Consulting specialists. The team is seeing an increase in corporate restructuring activity driven by Brexit, global tax reform, commercial rationalisation and pre/post deal activity (i.e. spin-offs and post deal integrations).  The role will involve you joining specific client / project teams to assist with the delivery and implementation.

The team is fully integrated with professional services colleagues across all disciplines and service lines, including risk and regulatory, consulting, tax and deal advisory.
About the role

The successful candidate(s) will be energetic, enthusiastic and keen to embrace the challenge of turning their hand to many different types of corporate work rather than doing similar deals time and time again. We operate an intensive training programme and you will be supported and upskilled from joining. You can expect a high degree of supported responsibility, working part of a large international team to implement the projects. Typical tasks will involve drafting corporate approvals, operative documentation (e.g. share transfers, business transfers) and coordinating our overseas network.
The nature of working so closely alongside professionals in PwC's various teams across London and the regions, as well as worldwide, leads to an incredibly diverse range of work that the team is asked to assist with. We also have team members out on secondment to high profile clients in the UK and overseas.
  • You will be valued and given responsibility within a suitably supported learning framework.
  • A high level of technical competence is expected as well as knowledge of the mechanics of corporate transactional work.
  • Each member of the team is encouraged to develop relationships with clients and with the professionals in PwC with whom we work on a daily basis.
  • You will be expected to run certain matters under the supervision of one of the Corporate partners or directors and to work closely alongside the other fee earners in the team.
  • You will collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients using PwC’s legal technology platforms and resources.
  • Organisational skills and the ability to take on significant levels of responsibility on transactions will therefore be key attributes. A desire to network and build relationships within PwC and with clients is also important.
