Our landscape architecture teams work side by side with a wide range of Arup’s other specialist fields, including urban design, ecology, town planning, digital technology, engineering, cost consulting and project management.

Specific term: 18 Months

The Role

We’re currently looking for a BIM and/or GIS technician to work alongside our landscape designers and planners, with experience particularly in using Revit software. Working within the landscape architectural team the individual is encouraged to innovate, tackle problems and take account of a wide range of issues including regeneration, the environment and public health. The duties within this role will mainly be 3D modelling and integration in Revit and other CAD platforms, GIS and CAD data preparation, data management, analysis, mapping and visualisation on our projects. Typical types of project that the individual will be involved on in the office include:

  • Masterplanning of housing developments and mixed-used developments

  • Designing and planning many different outside spaces including public parks, public spaces, and green corridors, from concept stage through to detailed design and construction.

Requirements and skills

The BIM technician will have at least two years experience of using Revit and other 3D modelling software. They would preferably also have professional qualifications in GIS with 2 years’ experience of working with ESRI ArcGIS v10.3.

Crucial Skills and Knowledge:

  • Full working knowledge of Revit and CAD e.g. AutoCAD or Microstation.

  • Some experience of ESRI ArcGIS v10.3

  • Experience of drawing and/or map production, including digitising, editing and translating designs into integrated models

  • Good communication skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Experience working on design projects

Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

  • A good understanding of spatial data processing, analysis and visualisation

  • Experience of working on large infrastructure projects

  • Knowledge of QA and drawing standards

  • Use of FME for conversion between GIS and CAD

  • Experience of working in wider 3D software packages e.g. Civil 3D, Sketchup/Rhino, ArcGIS Pro

  • Use of Photoshop / Illustrator

  • Background or interest in Landscape Architecture / Design
