On the Beach sends over 1.5 million people on their perfect beach holiday every year, and whilst the COVID-19 pandemic has caused disruption for the travel industry, we have not paused our ambition to become Europe's leading online retailer of beach holidays. 

About the Opportunity

We have a small but hardworking, fast-paced and collaborative Legal team and an opportunity has arisen for a Legal Counsel to join us. People are our business, so recruiting, engaging and retaining staff with the right On the Beach DNA is important to us. 

Working alongside the General Counsel & Company Secretary and Senior Legal Counsel, the successful candidate will (with training, development and support as required) provide proactive, commercial, pragmatic legal advice and assistance to the Group on a wide range of legal, company secretarial, and risk management issues, including:

  • Commercial contracts

  • Developing and maintaining standard templates, forms and processes

  • Consumer law and consumer T&Cs

  • Regulatory and travel law matters (in particular ongoing compliance with GDPR and the Package Travel Regulations)

  • Litigation

  • Corporate and M&A

  • Strategic projects

  • Company Secretarial and corporate governance matters

  • Listed company compliance

  • Risk management

  • Share schemes, HR policies and escalated HR issues 

Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is bright and driven

  • Is able to take a commercial, balanced approach to risk management and compliance

  • Is excited about learning new things and developing their knowledge, understanding and experience, in both legal and business matters

  • Has 2 years+* post-qualification experience, preferably in corporate/commercial, and ideally with in house experience

  • Enjoys working collaboratively, but is capable of working and managing projects autonomously

  • Is organised, productive and efficient

  • Ideally has experience as a commercial or corporate lawyer (commercial contracts experience in particular)

  • Has experience working in or with online retail, tech businesses, the travel industry, or listed businesses would be particularly useful, but full training, development and support will be provided

Remote Working

Currently we are all working remotely, however once things start to get back to normal, our primary place of work will be our Aeroworks office in the centre of Manchester. However after a successful switch to remote working due to the COVID-19 crisis, flexible remote working opportunities may be available.
