The opportunity: 

Our Claims function is the largest department in our UK General Insurance business, and it’s critical in ensuring we provide our customers with an efficient, professional and empathetic service. As a Claims Handler you will deliver effective and prompt settlement of Occupational Disease Claims.

You will be dealing with legacy claims as well as current claims for occupational diseases and employers liability for disease exposure.

This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.  Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

 
Key Responsibilities: 

  • Promptly handles and positively resolves all enquiries from both customer and external contacts to ensure delivery of a focused claims service 

  • Reviews, resolves and proactively finalises claims within authority limits ensuring settlement at an optimum level with consideration to business implications

  • Maximise productivity and profitability within the team

  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture

  • Supervisory responsibilities ad hoc basis as required

Your skills and experience:

  • Occupational Disease claims experience is preferable but not essential. We have scope to offer this role at a senior level or an entry level depending on the experience of the candidate

  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service whilst successfully managing varying workload

  • Ability to work in a team, coaching, motivating and developing yourself and others

  • Effective negotiation skills and responsibility to make a decision whilst acting with empathy and professionalism

  • Relevant experience of working either in general insurance or customer facing financial services or legal environment

  • Already making good progress towards CII qualification or willing to do so
