Part-Time Bookkeeper

We are recruiting for a Part-Time Bookkeeper to join a family owned business in Witham. This is a Part-Time Permanent role working around 32 hours a week and paying £12.00 - £16.00 per hour depending on experience.

Role Overview:

  • The Bookkeeper/ Office Administrator is responsible for following the accounting procedures of the company. To oversee a wide range of accounting and administrative related tasks independently with little supervision. You must be well organised, flexible and enjoy the administrative challenges of supporting a small office of diverse people.

  • Key Duties & Responsibilities for this Part-Time Bookkeeper will include but are not limited to:

  • Cover all bookkeeping/accounts duties for main business & 2 side businesses
  • Process purchase invoices, match with purchase orders and allocating
  • Manage the purchase ledger including reconciling supplier statements and allocating payments
  • Manage the sales ledger by producing sales invoices and statements as directed
  • Undertake credit control both written and over the telephone to ensure regular payments from suppliers
  • Process and Submit VAT returns
  • Process monthly payroll using Xero
  • Deliver excellent customer service ensuring that queries are resolved
  • Maintain general office and housekeeping responsibilities including filing, scanning and mailing
  • Manage training and accreditations to ensure they are up to date
  • HR duties such as including onboarding new staff (minimal)
  • Secretarial duties for Directors such as filtering calls, booking appointments as required
  • Any other duties that may seem appropriate to the post as requested by the Directors.

  • Personal Specification:

  • Experience working in a sole role with responsibility for all bookkeeping of a business
  • Experience of dealing with customers and staff with excellent customer service skills
  • Must be somebody that can be easily trusted and keep confidences
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Have experience and excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (inc. Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload
  • Must have own transport due to office location
  • Must have experience of Xero Accounting Software
  • Desirable to have AAT bookkeeping qualifications
