Part Time Finance Manager

An experienced, versatile Finance Manager is required on a part time basis, for a rapidly growing FMCG business with offices based in West Sussex.

Reporting to the MD, the Finance Manager will be required to work 3 days per week, taking full responsibility for providing the financial control required for what is a growing SME business. Whilst producing accurate monthly management accounts and assisting with budgeting and forecasting you will also focus on developing the finance function, satisfying all aspects of financial and statutory reporting. With the autonomy to take on additional duties as the workload demands, you will be in a prime position to develop within the business as it realises its growth potential.

Some of the key responsibilities for the Finance Manager include:

  • Overseeing and supporting the bookkeeping function

  • Quarterly - VAT return

  • Product stock reconciliation

  • Create and complete Management reports which include:

    • Creditors' report

    • Stock valuation

    • Bank reconciliation

    • Debtors' report

    • Transfer duty charged to isolate in the trial balance

    • Prepayments

    • Accruals

    • Asset depreciation

    • Reconcile trial balance

    • Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and comparison reports sent to Directors

  • Adding new products to Sage and sales reports.

  • Statistical analysis for insurance returns

  • Extracting from Sage sales data for the month, recording in an appropriate spreadsheet format using pivot tables to enable the following sales reports to be completed:

    • Company and major brands depletions

    • Customer ranking reports

    • Reports for each of the account managers

    • Specific reports as requested by customers

  • Create sales invoices for Accounts Payable, based on sales for specific suppliers

  • Complete HMRC Intrastat report

  • Update accounts for international property

  • Helping Account managers with information as and when requested, reconciling charges received

The candidate:

  • Fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CMGA, ACA) / QBE

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the SME environment

  • Good working knowledge of Sage Accounting and Excel (pivot table look-ups etc)

  • Previous knowledge or understanding of multi-currency accounting and excise duty

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade and influence.

  • Committed, enthusiastic and able to use initiative to drive the business forward.

  • Excellent written communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Highly organised with the proven ability to manage multiple priorities with ease.
