Our client is one of the UK's up and coming Home Interior Design brands with its own line of home-wear and furnishing products sold through its own e-commerce site. The founder of the brand has a small team (referred to as a "family") and until now has outsourced all finance and book-keeping activities to a local accounting firm. As the business grows and becomes more complex, the Founder would like to in-source all accounting activities and hire in a permanent, part-time resource to manage all elements of book-keeping as well as building out more sophisticated management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial planning capabilities.
The role will likely have the opportunity to become full-time in the future however for the first 1-2 years this 2-3 days per week arrangement might suit someone seeking to balance childcare and a return to work or perhaps an individual who has a portfolio of clients and has additional capacity.
This opportunity will be VERY hands-on to begin with (you will be tasked with professionalising all core processes including expenses management, invoicing and debtors management) however an additional support will be drafted in as the role develops. It is likely that a firm of accountants will be retained to support in year-end statutory accounts sign-off and to provide tax advice.
You will have a depth of knowledge and experience of retail (both Ecommerce and bricks and mortar) in order to provide advice and guidance on wider commercial and operational topics so this opportunity will ideally suit an individual with broad commercial acumen. However you must be prepared to roll up your shirt-sleeves, posting journals and managing expenses whilst building a finance function from the bottom up that is capable of supporting a design and ecommerce business that is growing exponentially.
The full-time annual salary equivalent is £65-75,000.
