The team provide treasury services to the entire Group – UK and overseas.

Working in close coordination with the Group Treasury Manager, this role is responsible for the currency payments, receipts and swap management, currency cashbooks, domestic currency bank reconciliations and currency deal administration for the European businesses.

This role also covers currency administration, bank dealings and expenses administration Dimensions The Treasury team consists of 4 personnel – this role reports directly to the Group Treasury Manager.

This role has no direct reports.

The role interacts with colleagues in Europe across all levels including senior management level.

Internal Contacts Commercial and finance colleagues in Europe and the UK External Contacts Banks as required Dimensions 6 foreign currency bank accounts and their related cashbooks Bank reconciliations of 2 domestic currency accounts Over 500 currency deals actively managed and reconciled for their weekly usage entirely on excel.

Principal Responsibilities The main areas of responsibility will encompass: Currency Payments This Consists Of This role is responsible for the complete manual reconciliation of all currency payments made by the Dutch and Polish businesses (c.

30 payments per week covering multiple invoices).

Analysis of all currency payments to determine the product/contract being paid to enable correct identification of related currency deal.

This can be between 2 and 30 lines per payment.

This involves interrogation of SAP and manual tracking of information back to additional spreadsheets where other information is held.

Ensure that the correct amount of currency is available for each payment as provided by the excel data collated from currency deals undertaken.

Where insufficient currency is available, this role must discuss with the relevant commercial manager what action is to be taken and then decide which alternative currency/action to use to ensure minimal impact on the P&L.

Record, maintain and reconcile all currency usage against each deal to ensure correct tracking of currency deal.

Calculate the currency deals maturing in and other currency in/out cashflows compared with the currency value required for payments to recommend the amount of currency to swap to a date in the future.

This figure is issued to the Group Treasury Manager to trade owing to segregation of duties.

Failure to reconcile and calculate this correctly will lead to incorrect costing of stock in the accounts, undercharging or over-charging the business for the euro value of their payments, inability to manage the currency accounts to a nil balance and additional bank fees.

Currency Receipts This Consists Of This role is responsible for the complete manual reconciliation of all currency receipts by the Dutch and Polish businesses (c.

30 receipts per week covering multiple invoices).

Analysis of all currency receipts to determine the product/contract being paid to enable correct identification of related currency deal.

This can be multiple lines (upto 10) and contracts (upto 5) per payment.

This involves interrogation of SAP and manual tracking of information back to additional spreadsheets where other information is held.

Ensure that the correct amount of currency is available for each receipt as provided by the excel data collated from currency deals undertaken.

Where insufficient currency is available, this role must discuss with the relevant commercial manager what action is to be taken and then decide which alternative currency/action to use to ensure minimal impact on the P&L.

Record, maintain and reconcile all currency usage against each deal to ensure correct tracking of deal.

Systems User of tm5 – treasury management system – to ensure correct recording and management of currency.

User of HSBCnet to access banking information.

Accounting Preparation of multiple multi-currency manual cash books for all currency transactions occurring through the European bank accounts (including payment runs and receipts as described above).

Fluency in double entry booking is essential for this element of the role.

Undertake the bank reconciliations of the domestic currency bank accounts for Europe escalating any issues to the Group Treasury Manager.

Treasury Back Office – Europe Part-reporting to the Group Treasurer in this area for segregation of duties requirements.

Undertake The Back Office Function For Europe To Ensure Compliance With Internal Controls, Financial Regulations And Hedge Accounting Requirements All Of Which Must Be Accurate And Timely (same Day Action) Recording of all European currency deals on the treasury system, tm5, including ensuring that the Company continues to meet its hedge accounting requirements for MC and financial reporting.

Other Administration of the online expenses system and preparing the payment file to be submitted to payroll once a week Implementation and adherence to group internal controls Work with internal and external auditors on the provision of key audit information Train in currency dealing to be able to cover other roles in the department as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience This role operates under strict time pressure deadlines and all operations must be completed accurately within those deadlines.

Attention to detail is of paramount importance owing to the absence of any system/process control over the actions of this role.

Accuracy whilst working at speed and under pressure is essential.

Previous experience of dealing with currency and manual cashbooks is essential Degree level education required Studying for either an accountancy or treasury qualification Excellent excel skills Excellent reconciliation skills Strong communication skills Able to handle numerous priorities simultaneously and manage workload to meet deadlines Work with minimal supervision Previous experience of a treasury management system and SAP would be an advantage Ready to get started?
