Part Time Project Engineer

Par Time Project EngineerCirca £35-40k FTE dependent on experience plus overtime when requiredBased Sheffield, South Yorkshire (with UK-wide travel, some over-night stays, occasional travel to Germany/Poland and some week-end/Bank Holiday work)Part-time, two to three days per week, 16 to 24 hours per weekMoeschle UK Ltd is the UK subsidiary of a German-owned engineering group involved in the design, manufacture and installation of high quality, stainless steel, storage, process and pressure vessels which also include access ladders and walkways. We work with a wide range of sectors such as food, drinks, personal care, pharmaceutical, confectionary and light chemical, where stainless steel is required for either hygiene or is seen as a suitability material for storing or processing a product. We work with a wide variety of customers, from SMEs to multi-national organisations and have projects ranging from one vessel through to tank farms/site constructed vessels and complex process vessels for mixing and cooking.Due to further expansion, we have a unique opportunity for two experienced practical engineers to join the team to assist with some pre-quotation works, prepare proposals/tenders, undertake site visits for general data collection, measure and produce outline drawing for vessel design installation, meet with sub-contractors (such as crane hire, machinery movement, fabricators and pipe fitters) to obtain quotes for installation and issue drawings for sub-components.Post-order, you will be involved in: managing customer expectations; drawing reviews and approvals ’jointly with our process engineer’; ordering sub-components; checking the arrival of these ancillary parts to ensure they meet delivery schedules; and organising delivery to sub-suppliers or to site. You will also oversee vessel deliveries and installations, normally using approved sub-contractors or simply attend site to give advice on how the vessel is to be installed. We also undertake some ’on-site’ vessel builds, where we manage our own engineers, organise and oversee crane lifts and the general setting up of sites, which involves managing sub-contractor trades. We undertake some small process projects, which include management of installations and commissioning of a complete system: however, these are normally ‘start up’ plants or simple vessel installation involving pumps, valves, pipework and other components, from delivery through to commissioning. You will also be involved in supplier evaluations and quality control of component manufacture. The part-time role will have some aftercare work to manage the supply of parts, fitting and servicing. You will also carry out some general maintenance work within our workshop and offices. This is partly a ’hands on’ role but as we are a small team ‘no two days will be the same’ and there will be loads of variety. You will need to use your people skills to motivate and manage all trades to ensure that we deliver ‘on time’ and to ‘specification’.As this is partly a customer-facing role, it is important you have good customer relationship skills and work well as part of a team, with a quiet but confident approach. You should have a background in mechanical engineering, a strong working knowledge of Autocad and an understanding of RAMs.You may ideally be:·Working in a mechanical engineering project environment, for a company operating across one or more of our key market sectors;·Looking for a new challenge in a generalist engineering role where you can become involved at every stage of the business operational cycle with a high level of responsibility, autonomy and accountability;·Looking to join an established, yet ambitious company where you can make an immediate and sustainable impact;·Looking to harness your technical engineering skills alongside your people management, communication and influencing skills to provide an exceptional level of customer service and experience;·Looking to work in an ethical and value-driven business where your opinion will be valued. If you are interested in this role, we would very much like to hear from you.
