Pension Scheme Assistant Accountant - Part-Time (21 hours per week)

Location: Flexible (although you must be willing to be based in the Gloucester office at least one day per week at a time when we return to offices)

The opportunity: 

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the UK Pensions & Benefits team as an Assistant Accountant. This is a newly created role that will entail accounting support to the Finance and Investment team, for the in-house pension scheme.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the preparation of the annual statutory accounts ready for external audit and addressing queries from external auditors.
  • Prepare quarterly management accounts for scheme management and trustees.
  • Assist with the preparation of the trustee & departmental budgets, monitoring actual spend against them.
  • Responsibility for specific tasks, processes or models within the team.
  • Quarterly reconciliation of membership movements.
  • Reconciliation of key transactions for the scheme.
  • Manage the invoicing approval process
  • Ad-hoc tasks as required to cover staff absence.
  • Your skills and experience:

  • AAT qualified or with experience applicable to the role.
  • Knowledge of core UK accounting practices
  • Reconciliations experience
  • Knowledge of UK pensions schemes would be desireable but not essential
  • Good knowledge of finance administration systems, preferably SAP, would be an advantage, together with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • A team player with an enthusiastic and positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
