Opportunities for Lawyers: London and Surrey
The Reignite Academy provides opportunities for experienced lawyers to return to the profession after a career hiatus, through a six month paid programme of training and work experience. Following a successful pilot with six city firms, a further 8 firms have joined as members to offer opportunities for lawyers who are ready to reignite their careers.
Qualified lawyers who trained with city firms and who have taken a break from their careers will be invited to join a six month programme with one of the eight participating firms. The application process launches in March and successful applicants will begin work in September 2019. The doors will be open to people who have taken a complete career break and also to those who have been under-employed or taken positions considerably below their potential. Applicants need not have trained at one of the founder firms and will be provided with a comprehensive induction, training and coaching programme to support their return.
This programme is unique as it allows for 4-day a week working plus the possibility of some homeworking once the programme is underway depending which firm you join.

After initial screening, successful applicants will be invited to a face to face workshop where they will have the opportunity to learn more about what’s involved. Coaching on interview preparation, CV writing and LinkedIn profiling will also be provided. Successful candidates will be offered a six month contract with their chosen member firm. The Academy will then focus on delivering the right training to candidates in order to make their six month experience a success.
Whilst there is no guarantee of a permanent placement at the end of the six months, it is the goal of the programme.
What support is on offer?
The programme is designed to be a supportive way for you to return to your career. Support is available at each step of the way. First interviews include guidance and coaching on career plans, prior to shortlisting candidates are invited to a Bootcamp that covers CV advice, interviewing skills and updates on the legal industry as well as hearing from this year’s participants, pre-commencement there is a training day for those offered a position, and during the programme you will have access to your own executive coach who will provide you with 1to1 coaching sessions. In addition you will be part of a cohort of people who are all in similar career stages to yourself, providing you with a great support network.
