Apply now to join the online ReLaunch Course for professional women on a career break, starting on the 5th of May! ReLaunch will help you to understand the value of your strengths, build confidence, clarify your professional goals and create an action plan for next steps. Following a career break, figuring out what you want to do, breaking barriers to re-entry and building confidence can be challenging. Our mission is to empower professional women who have had a career break (from 3 months to 15 plus years) to feel confident to start their next chapter. The course is led by experienced facilitators and held in small groups of 6-8 women, so participants not only finish with a plan but with a new support network too.

Since completing ReLaunch, participants have gained full or part-time employment, started their own businesses, changed careers, engaged with skilled volunteering or gone on to further education.

To register your interest in ReLaunch, click "Apply" and please upload your CV (don't worry if it is an old one).

Upcoming ReLaunch Course in May 2020 - Providing Professional Women with Focus, Connection and Support

Since lockdown measures were put in place, we have spoken to many women who are busier than ever – caring for family members, helping isolated neighbours and friends, coordinating home-schooling and managing homes. There are also new stresses and uncertainties, as we adjust to being at home all day. However, ReLaunch coach Henrietta Nelson says that it is important for women to care for their mental health and wellbeing at this unsettling time and one way of doing this is to focus on the future beyond the pandemic. Henrietta says,

ReLaunch offers women the opportunity to carve out some time for themselves to reflect on what is and isn’t working in their lives and focus on their vision for the future. They will also benefit enormously from connecting with other like-minded women who will support them on their journey.”

The ReLaunch programme now takes place online. Tomoko, one of our March ReLaunch participants, described the smooth transition to an online course:

When lockdown measures kicked in, ReLaunch coaches Henrietta and Pelin moved the course online seamlessly. I felt supported and really benefitted from the course. ReLaunch gave me the space and time to figure out what I really wanted and to go for it!”

This cohort of accomplished women feel very connected to each other and are continuing to have virtual meet-ups to support and encourage each other with pursuing their goals in these uncertain times.

Can't make the next course? Don't worry, we run them regularly! If you're interested in finding out about our ReLaunch courses and Community, get in touch with Heather:

ReLaunchees’ Stories

Emily’s Story

Emily, a Wandsworth resident, feels fortunate that she was able to take a 14-year career break to raise her children. In those years, she also volunteered in her community, as well as being the head of the PTA at her children’s school. Emily says: “When my term as Head of the PTA ended, I wanted to continue being busy – preferably in a paid role! - but I wasn’t sure exactly how to go about it or what my strengths were after such a long break. Luckily I heard about the ReLaunch course at just the right time.”

Through the 4-part ReLaunch course, Emily was able to assess her strengths and the types of roles that would work best for her. She is now the Alumni & Events Manager at a local independent school, and credits ReLaunch with helping her get this job, saying: “I would not have pursued this role with the same confidence and assertive attitude without ReLaunch. It is honestly one of the best things I’ve ever done!” Emily has thrived in her busy role and enjoyed gaining new skills such as database management and how to use social media as a work tool – she says if she can do it, anyone can!

Annabel’s Story

Annabel, who had been away from the workforce for many years, participated in ReLaunch to revaluate her life and next steps as her two younger children were well established in senior school and her eldest was at University. After picking up a ReLaunch leaflet by chance, she had a chat with Heather, and quickly signed up! She says:

The workshops made me set aside time to really think about my strengths and weaknesses, what was important to me and how that could translate into a new pathway going forward. The group was small and supportive, and the facilitators were well trained and able, with gentle encouragement, to keep us focused on the process. During one workshop we were introduced to Link UP’s Skilled Volunteering – and this interested me. Through their skilled volunteering team, I became engaged on a project with the Katherine Low Settlement, the much-loved Battersea Charity that supports children, young people and their families, older people, refugees and newly arrived communities in a variety of ways.”

Annabel found that she really enjoyed getting back into an office environment, learning new ways of working and meeting people from many different backgrounds. There were challenges too, such as juggling family commitments and brushing up on her IT skills was essential, but the flexibility of this skilled volunteering project was the perfect way to dip a toe back into the workplace. She feels that she learnt so much during the project and gained confidence - “for example, I used to worry about public speaking after so long away from the workplace, but I've overcome this and am now speaking at huge school assemblies!”

As the project came to an end, Annabel was offered a paid role within KLS and she is now their Community Partnerships Manager:

In these unprecedented times I couldn’t be busier or more fulfilled. Coronavirus has thrown us a host of new challenges and I am working with KLS and the Coronavirus Angels to support Battersea residents through these difficult times. I fully believe ReLaunch made all this possible; without it I would still be considering my options without the confidence to press forward as it’s so easy to make excuses and procrastinate. I encourage you to take the plunge and see where ReLaunch takes you!”
