The opportunity: 

To execute the restructuring strategy for Zurich Legacy Solutions’ (“ZLS”) legacy insurance and reinsurance portfolios in markets across the globe in order to maximize shareholder value and achieve finality (M&A).

This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.  Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Identify the market benchmarks and trends for the underlying portfolio.

  • Contribute towards and coordinate the analysis of the policy and claims data in the portfolios and segmenting the information to identify areas of value to support potential sale/exit.

  • Formulate plans to manage risks and issues (including reputational issues) during and post exit.

  • Liaise with Actuarial in relation to portfolio reserving and deciding on the need, or otherwise, for an independent reserve review.

  • Work with Claims, Actuarial and Finance functions to ensure operational effectiveness prior to exit.

  • Resolve any reinsurance or claims disputes including commuting or buying back policies.

  • Lead smaller and medium size Legacy transactions, across corporate functions (finance, legal, tax etc)

  • Deliver a high level of customer service to ZLS’s BU partners across the Zurich group.

Your skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance or similar subject

  • Experience in mergers & acquisitions in the financial sector or experience in technical insurance roles with a good understanding of transaction processes

  • Experience in mergers & acquisitions in the insurance industry

  • Ideally other insurance industry experience, e.g. in claims or underwriting

  • Experience working with businesses internationally

  • Capability in one or more foreign languages
