Mizuho International Supported Returners Roles – London:

Information Systems Department 


We are delighted to be recruiting for two supported returner roles based in London, at Mizuho International plc (MHI). This includes a permanent role, at Vice President rank, within our Information Systems team.  This role is aimed at people who have taken a career break of two or more years and who are now looking to return to work.  


We are hoping that our joiners will start together in January 2022 but we can offer flexibility around this. These newly created roles can be designed to accommodate a flexible working pattern to work for your situation and we’d like to hear what your ideal pattern might be.  We are also open to discussing a gradual build-up of hours over your first month to best ensure maximum long term success.  In our new hybrid working environment we expect most roles to include significant elements of homeworking on an ongoing basis and we are also pleased to offer a core working hours policy.  We do not anticipate that any of the roles will require international travel.

The Department

The Business Change team provides project management and business analysis support to business functions to manage technological, process and organisational change. 

The team manages MHI’s New Product Committee (NPC) function and also coordinates IT and Business Change for large scale programs of work.

The team provides a platform for stakeholders to present significant business or system change initiatives to a wide audience of key MHI departments thereby increasing change awareness within MHI. 


The primary responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to):


  • As head of PMO lead and develop the PMO team, ensuring efficient resource management, effective monitoring of projects such that cost, quality, efficiency & benefits realisation are controlled and achieved


  • Work with the PMOs to promote standardisation of reporting and tooling to support effective Project Management, continually improving the ways of working


  • Responsible for the reporting and management of budgets across IT projects, working closely with Finance IT Controller to review month on month trends, resolve mis-bookings and highlight any negative trends actual vs. budget


  • Manage the administrative activities required to facilitate a demanding project portfolio including management of renewals of temporary staff, reporting and analysis, including headcount tracking


  • Facilitate and provide secretariat duties to a key governance IT meeting, the Change & Implementation Committee with C-suite stakeholders and Senior Business heads 


  • Additional preparation of key management reporting packs. This includes updates on project schedule and progress, financial status, issues/risks and dependencies to senior MHI and global Mizuho management audiences


  • Support annual budget process, co-ordinating the exercise across IT heads and in close liaison with Finance IT Controller


  • Support the head of Business Change as well as CIO and Deputy CIO in their roles, including, preparation of presentation materials, briefing documents and other ad-hoc executive materials


  • Ongoing improvement and evolution of reporting packs in conjunction with the head of business change, the CIO and the Deputy CIO 


The Programme

We are looking for experienced professionals who wish to restart their career in a high performing environment.  The supported returners will be provided with bespoke training covering financial products, Microsoft Office products and bespoke coaching around confidence, presence and resilience.  We will also provide the supported returners with many opportunities to build relationships with colleagues and senior leaders from across the company.  In addition to this you will have access to a wide range of centrally funded development opportunities and we’ll work with you to prioritise the best courses for your needs.  The team will also provide on the job training for your particular role and external support if required. We have a strong focus on mentorship and you will be given a buddy and a mentor to support you in your return to work. 


Skills and Experience Required

We are looking for strong team players with proven experience of managing IT projects in a fast paced environment, ideally in investment banking or financial services sector.

We are looking for professionals with previous experience of Exec level reporting responsibility, who are able to transform information into presentations that are visually appealing and concisely convey key messages to senior leaders. Knowledge and application of Management Accounting principles to IT cost control, and IT Service Management principles as applied to Information Risk, are essential.

You will be supported in developing a good understanding of the relevant business areas for your role and related financial products.   As a relatively small company all of our roles are broad and you will work with a variety of stakeholders across the department and the Company – flexibility of approach is therefore key.  You will be required to build strong stakeholder relationships across the Company.
