The role:

The RISE Enhancement Project, part funded by European Regional Development Fund, is designed to help Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) access graduate level talent, enabling increases in turnover, productivity and innovation within businesses across Sheffield City Region (SCR).

Evidence shows that graduates have significant impact on business turnover, productivity and introduction of new processes and products. However, SMEs often experience barriers to graduate recruitment which prevent them from accessing graduate talent. The RISE Enhancement Project is designed to remove these barriers and support SMEs to employ graduates within their business. The project will do this through activities that support the businesses to identify graduate level jobs, recruit to them and retain them in the business. The project is open to any graduate from any university, to attract the best graduate talent for the SMEs in the Sheffield City Region.

The project will also have an objective to support high tech sectors where skill shortages are often a barrier to growth.

The project is a partnership between Sheffield City Council (SCC), Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) and the University of Sheffield (UoS) and complements the Sheffield City Region (SCR) Growth Hub and Sheffield Innovation Programme (SIP) activity.

Working with the partners and employers across the Sheffield City Region, you will:

  • Provide high level relationship management, supporting SMEs in the Sheffield City Region to effectively connect with support from the Higher Education Institutions - Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) and the University of Sheffield (UoS) to enhance SMEs' further collaboration, innovation and business growth.

  • Establish new relationships and develop new and existing relationships with companies and key organisations within the city region that have engaged with the RISE Enhancement Project generating opportunities for further collaboration and innovation with SHU and the UoS.

  • Work collaboratively ensuring effective engagement and promotion of the project and support success for its SME participants.

You will have experience of providing expert advice and guidance to senior managers and both internal and external stakeholders to support business engagement. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are key to this role with its main focus being to manage relationships with stakeholders. Therefore, commercial awareness and the ability to tailor communications to different stakeholders are essential.

Please note that some evening work and occasional weekend work is required to support the project. You will also be able and willing to travel and work across the Sheffield City Region to visit SMEs and project partners such as the University of Sheffield and Sheffield City Council.

This post is fully funded by the RISE Enhancement project which is receiving £684,000 of funding from the European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.
