Senior Building Surveyor / Commissioning Manager (Technical Due Diligence)
The Exciting Opportunity
We have a new opportunity for a Senior Level Chartered Building Surveyor to join our established Lenders & Investors Technical Due Diligence & Building Surveying team in London.
Your core responsibilities will largely relate to transactional based instructions across UK with the opportunity to assist on pan-European projects also. However, the workload will be varied and include a mixture of technical advisory and some project work with flexibility potentially to accommodate your specific skill sets.
As part of the team, you will be expected to be technically excellent and have a broad range and experience of commercial surveying including Technical Due Diligence (TDD), Condition Surveys and Contract Administration / Project Management, Dilapidations and Party Wall Matters.
You will be largely focused on service delivery, often working as part of a larger commission team and supporting to achieve exceptional outcomes for our clients.
Optionally, there is the opportunity to support the European Transaction Advisory Commission Management Team where you will commission manage both single and multiple asset instructions.
This role offers a high level of responsibility and accountability with the opportunity to develop managerial experience as well as technical knowledge and skills, and to progress within a successful and growing specialist team.
The key focus of our technical due diligence advice and reporting is to work with our clients buying and selling assets to identify key risks, the severity and quantification of these risks, along with recommendations for mitigation. Our advice needs to ensure that our clients achieve maximum value from their built assets with a clear understanding of risk.
The role includes predominantly Technical Due Diligence along with some Project Management / Contract Admin, Dilapidations and occasionally Party Wall services across a range of building types although largely commercial.
This will include but not be limited to:
• managing risk in service delivery and contribute to service delivery improvement initiatives
• demonstrating organic revenue growth and implementation of the business plan in terms of the commercial building surveying offering
• designing and managing property alteration, refurbishment and maintenance projects from £100k- £1m (contract administration)
• managing and undertaking professional technical consultancy commissions including Technical Due Diligence, dilapidations, condition surveys and infrequently party wall work
• effectively communicating to ensure all information is available for the successful implementation and completion of projects
• liaising with the Project Managers and Team Leaders to ensure efficient financial control resulting in a cost effective service
• ensuring the Sector Director has quantified information on the progress of each contract on a regular basis
• supporting with mentoring and supervising our junior building surveyor.
What You have to Offer:
You will be a chartered building surveyor with experience of commercial surveying and technical due diligence. While you don’t need to be an expert in due diligence you need to have the passion to work and develop in this area.
This will be a client facing role so you will be confident dealing directly with clients and building and maintaining professional relationships while managing expectations effectively. You will be commercially and financially astute being able to provide concise commercial advice to our clients.
Due to the fast-paced and varied nature of the work that we do, you will be able to manage your time effectively to meet deadlines and be confident in managing your own tasks from inception through to completion.
