The RLAM Institutional sales team encompasses direct sales and intermediary relationships and is responsible for the ratings and sale of RLAM strategies via funds and Discretionary managed portfolios to insurance companies, pensions funds, Universities, Charities, and Local Authorities both within the UK and as appropriate the rest of the world.

The role:

The purpose of the role is to work with senior members of the sales team to enhance sales processes and deliver strategic projects. The role will involve analysis of market trends and potential sales opportunities, working primarily on developing the insurance sales process and international sales efforts but working with all members of the sales team as required. 

The role relies heavily on an ability to complete tasks quickly and accurately, working through complex issues with little day-to-day management. The successful candidate must enjoy working in a busy environment and have a ‘can do’ attitude.

It is expected that the individual fulfilling the role would have the necessary capabilities and potential to move into a senior direct selling role over time.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop insurance investment knowledge in alignment with the RLAM insurance offering (both individual strategies and solutions).

  • Getting up to speed with the international expansion project and existing international client book

  • Preparation and dispatch client reports and presentations

  • Producing presentation packs / briefing documents for prospect meetings

  • Liaising with external consultant teams and contacts

  • Oversight and update of key management information and static data

  • Playing key support and client liaison role in external marketing events

  • Market trends and analysis

  • Running & formatting data from RLAM data systems

  • RFP co-ordination and input

Skills and Experience

  • Understanding of the context and needs of the client base

  • Organisation skills and a good time manager

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Attention to detail

  • ‘Can do’, positive attitude

  • Outgoing, personable, team player

Essential Criteria

  • Insurance investment knowledge is critical – gained through working at an asset manager, consultant or in-house at an insurer

  • Technical understanding of asset management products

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills to a high level

Desirable Criteria

  • Any experience of working with institutional investors outside of the UK would be helpful
