About the role
An exciting opportunity has become available in the LV= General Insurance team for Senior Press Officer. The Senior Press Officer will be responsible for a wide range of activities from developing and delivering B2B and B2C media plans, building strong relationships with journalists across national, local and trade media, to coordinating responses to media enquiries and supporting the social media strategy for the Corporate Communications team.
The Senior Press Officer will be working in a small but very enthusiastic and proactive team. It is a great opportunity for someone who is already performing a similar role but looking for the next step in the career or simply developing even further in the PR field as we provide a number of training opportunities.

Our team is operating across a few business areas and we are constantly seeking newsworthy stories, so you too will have a natural ‘nose for news’. There is a lot of collaboration and support across the team, though there will be times when you will have to handle additional work and deal with tight deadlines.
There will be plenty of exciting stories and projects for you to get involved in and we want to make every story stand out so we’re seeking a ‘word wizz’ with excellent writing and editing skills as well as knowledge of media evaluation tools.
But the role doesn’t stop here! As you’ll be liaising with the wider business on a daily basis, we would like you to become the true specialist in your field and offer high level, consultative strategic advice across media relations. You will be working with other departments too. From Social Media, Digital, Marketing to Internal Communications, you will be comfortable building successful relationships and establishing your position as an expert when taking part in cross – department projects.
In addition, we are ideally seeking someone with the below experience:
Financial services and in media relations management
Knowledge of financial services and products as well as media structures and operations.
Responsible for contributing to the creation and delivery of the LV= PR strategy, with the aim of differentiating and protecting the brand by working alongside the Head of Corporate Communications.
Identifying proactive opportunities in the media.
Responding quickly and accurately to breaking or negative stories in order to limit potentially damaging media coverage, providing guidance and support to senior stakeholders within LV=.
Working closely with other departments, including Marketing, Public Affairs, Digital, SEO and Internal Comms to take ownership of and deliver certain projects.
Media training of senior leadership team/spokespeople.
Representing LV= with senior external stakeholders and at external events.
Acting as media spokesperson when required.
Subject matter expert in General Insurance.
