WSP is seeking a highly motivated project management professional to join our Rail Engineering Services team as a Senior Project Manager who will also lead our team of like-minded Project Managers, Assistant Project Manager’s and Planners adding value to the services offered to our clients.
We are looking for a candidate with the ability to apply a systematic approach to project delivery, pro-actively manage risks and influence others to deliver successfully. Candidates must have line management experience, excellent communication and project / programme management skills, a relevant technical background and be willing to take on new challenges. Experience of the engineering design process, commercial management and key account management would also be beneficial.
As team leader, you will ensure a proactive approach to resource management, talent management, staff development and succession planning to meet the requirements for the ongoing development of the Project Management and Controls (PM&C) community whilst supporting and driving its future within the business. You will interface with the cost-centre leadership team, HR, HSE and other functions as required to ensure consistent, best-practice, approach is adopted across the team.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead complex multi-discipline design teams to win and deliver projects for different stakeholders, you will build on your hands-on experience of working with client teams in a collaborative and integrated manner. Your design team may be drawn from multiple offices with conflicting operational priorities, an ability to utilise modern technologies to build consensus and maximise design effort is very desirable. You will be required to lead prospects and projects following the requirements of the Business Management System, as well as, to meet client requirements. Experience of working within the Network Rail environment (or other similar major UK client organisation), specifically in the use of the client systems and processes will be advantageous.
You will be largely UK focused, based out of our Manchester office, however, opportunities may also arise to work in other areas of the UK or elsewhere.
A typical week would include:
Providing Leadership to the PM&C teams for which you are responsible
To manage the effective utilisation of design resources to client requirements and programme, including iCRC as appropriate.
Lead and provide input into proposals including resource estimates and technical content to support successful delivery of bids.
Providing leadership and expertise within projects and ensure client satisfaction.
Undertake Key Account Management roles as required.
Developing the PM&C Team in line with the business plan.
Acting as PM, successfully delivering high quality multi and single disciplinary Rail projects.
Ensuring that proactive project planning, stakeholder and risk management takes place across projects
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
Bid/Project Management & Technical Delivery experience in the Rail sector.
Experience, preferably in the UK, delivering design solutions to major infrastructure projects, between GRIP stages 2 and 8.
Experience in a design consultancy environment with good customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.
Proven ability to lead and work successfully in a multi-disciplinary design team.
A degree, in a relevant engineering or management discipline.
Preferably a Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and a member of relevant professional institution
