About the Role

Working to the Reporting and Insights Manager, the Insights and Reporting Analyst will be responsible for supporting the discovery, design, build and timely publication of all new reporting requirements as well as the maintenance of existing reporting across the SMB Business Sales Directorate for TEF UK.

The role owner will be commercially minded with the ability to understand the commercial imperatives behind their data needs, thorough inquisitive, innovative, 'out-of-the-box' thinking and with a passion for mobile, digital business, and emerging technologies. Working with stakeholders across Finance, IT, Marketing, Trading and Business Sales, the role owner will define and capture their requirements and support by providing high quality development of reports, analysis and interpretation of data, generating insight, and supporting the delivery of organisational priorities through actionable insights . The role holder will bring all directorates together under common business processes and reporting in order to review the impact of previous performance and highlight the projection to drive future sales performance to target. The role will require cross directorate interaction at senior levels to ensure that business processes, MIS reporting and outputs deliver the requirements effectively. 


Key Responsibilities

The specific responsibilities for this role are to:

  • To ensure Management and timely delivery of reporting requirements across the SMB Business Sales Directorate, and wider remit as required including scoping requirements, scenario modelling, design & build, implementation and communication. whilst ensuring Governance to compliance is maintained

  • Providing data insights that underpin our strategy and that are financially feasible by understanding business approach and interpreting into actionable measurements accordingly.

  • Developing methods and strategies for assessing large amounts of data; closely studying and analysing past sales data to determine trends in productivity; Sales by Product mix and vertical

  • Develop hypotheses about Sales performance, and use data to explore and test them in looking for trends, patterns, outliers, and other insights

  • Bring together data from different data sources including manual files using internal business intelligence sources to identify and amalgamate different business rules and to unify data to a master data level.

  • Constantly looking for continuous improvement, to improve and develop own skills, as well as driving continuous improvement in ways of working and business outputs

  • Actively engage in exploring emerging approaches to analysing and using data, bringing expertise to bear in solving organisational problems.

  • Introduce automation, wherever possible, to enable automation in the process of data extraction and collection.

  • Own the granular level of detail with the sub channels for physicals (volume, product mix and rate) and VAS.

  • Produce analytical outputs to articulate trends and trajectory.  

  • Submit the sub channel weekly outlook and monthly outlook at the appropriate level of detail required - clearly articulating assumptions.

  • Support the sub channels understanding and interpretation of the demand generation forecast

  • Support marketing, finance, product and sales in pricing forum assumptions, alignment and post implementation reviews.

  • Maintain a central repository of all reporting processes plans and update as appropriate all key documentation inc  Flow, report source and version control.

  • Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis as requested.

  • Be seen as the subject matter expert for all reporting created within the Directorate


Key Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced and dynamic environment

  • Deals comfortably with concepts and complexity

  • Strong Analytical skills combined with a common sense commercial view

  • Demonstrably successful track record in building and cultivating business critical relationships

  • Analytical experience of reporting specifically over a number of years including ability to capture, interrogate and analyse data as well understand and communicate the overall picture.

  • Ability to negotiate at a senior management level and manage strong relationships with sales teams and key operational stake holders

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools SQL and VBA Knowledge an advantage

  • Have knowledge of and hands on experience of business intelligence data models and the necessity of these for good reporting. Experience required of developing tables and indexes

  • A good understanding of O2 sales, products and routes to market.

  • Ability to work well within project/virtual teams, delivering excellent results under pressure.

  • Occasional travel to O2 locations for briefings and to present at team meetings.

  • Collaborative team player with the ability to establish a high level of credibility in the organisation and act as a trusted advisor

  • Ability to be supportive and challenging in equal balance

  • Business and Commercially astute
