As the Social Media Manager, you’ll have the exciting job of leading the management of Nationwide’s social channels: setting the marketing strategy and leading the execution of engaging and category leading social campaigns. You’ll work closely with colleagues from across the Society and will use your expertise and insights thanks to your deep understanding of the social landscape and our social community to really showcase the brand and what we’re about.

What you’ll be doing

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Social Media Manager to join our award-winning Advertising & Social Media team. The team’s ambition is to create talked about advertising and social media campaigns that promote our brand, and helps our membership thrive.

You’ll own our consumer-facing social presence across organic and paid social and will set the social media marketing strategy for Nationwide. You’ll manage our Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube channels, as well as any other channels that you may look to develop in the future.

You’ll develop and lead the activation of the social media strategy and manage a monthly social media content calendar for each platform, leveraging market trends, social listening, brand marketing and business objectives to maximise relevance of storytelling to drive engagement, reach, and growth.

You’ll develop and build the Social Media Team to create a team of experts across organic and paid social, working closely with the wider Advertising and Media team and beyond to collaborate on paid campaigns, SEO and content using own expertise and channel insights to act as social media ‘consultant’.

You’ll also oversee the management and moderation of Nationwide’s social media community in collaboration with the E-Contacts Customer Service team. You’ll ensure we’re harnessing a positive social community by overseeing the implementation of our various social policies.

We are looking for a true social trailblazer – someone who anticipates opportunities and future trends to drive channel and brand growth.

About you

  • Experience in Social Media, client or agency side, and it’s not essential to have financial services experience

  • Passionate about Social Media with a proven track record developing and implementing social strategies for well-known brands

  • Able to demonstrate thought leadership in social media with evidence of driving change and test and learn in this rapidly changing environment

  • Extensive experience of building brands on the major social media channels and their management platforms

  • Detailed understanding of social analytics tools and processes, ideally with experience of using Sprinklr

  • Detailed understanding of social platforms from a technical perspective (impact of algorithm changes etc)

  • Experience of collaborating with a broad range of colleagues in a cross functional capacity and an ability to communicate at both a detailed technical level, and a more strategic level

  • Experience of working with creative and media agencies and with social media platforms such as Facebook

  • Thrives from working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and able to work effectively under pressure.
