We are looking for an experienced Software Project Management Professional to lead the delivery of our Digital Projects and collaborate and work within our Digital Delivery team.

We are looking for a talented Software Project Management Professional who is experienced in the art of planning and leading complex software projects. You will work within the Digital Delivery team and liaise with the PMO and other client and project stakeholders. The Software Project Manager will lead and support the Digital Delivery teams directly with the planning, implementation, monitoring and control of software projects.

Overseeing and working with a large team of digital delivery resources such as software developers, solution architects, data analysts, business analysts and GIS consultants you will be required to lead the collaboration, communication and management of the day-day delivery of our digital projects, ensuring our services are provided on time, to the required quality and within the allocated budget. You will be supported by the Digital Technical Leads within GSS.

Our clients develop major aviation, highway, rail, energy and water infrastructure Projects. We are seeking to appoint an experienced Project Manager who can effectively lead and support a diverse team whilst being the principal point of contact with our client project managers in the delivery of the project.

Within GSS we develop and support a software platform called PinPoint that is utilised by internal and external stakeholders and clients to deliver client projects. PinPoint is a data management system with a suite of software applications, web portals, business intelligence reports, mobile applications, 2D and 3D Maps with a data warehouse backend system. You will be familiar with working in this environment and technical area.

A typical week would include:

  • Lead on the safety, health and wellbeing of the digital project team working with the digital technical leads in GSS

  • Manage software project controls through WSP, Jira and client systems

  • Interface with client internal project team counterpart to understand the client expectations, milestones and plan and turn into a digital internal delivery plan

  • Manage and lead on the delivery of the internal delivery project plan working with the digital delivery team ensuring the correct tasks are prioritized and delivered across the team within scope, time and budget

  • Implement and manage lessons learned exercises to ensure scope and delivery are continuously effectively controlled

  • Manage effectively all communications within the digital delivery team • Manage change control effectively

  • Review and advise on the digital scope and discuss with project and digital delivery teams

  • Manage the interface between the project delivery teams and GSS and manage all progress reporting

  • Work with the GSS business managers to ensure cost controls meet expectations

  • Manage and utilise effectively Jira reporting to client, internal and key stakeholders 

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • An appropriate degree qualification in a relevant discipline

  • Membership of a Professional Institution

  • Experience of working with Digital Delivery Teams and Software Platforms and Projects

  • APMP, Prince2 or similar Project Management qualification

  • Working within an agile project environment

  • Experience of working with Jira Software to manage and track projects or equivalent

  • Experienced project manager with a track record of successful delivery of services on internal and external projects

  • Ability to interrogate, question and challenge information

  • Ability to coordinate the submission of accurate reports to predetermined deadlines

  • Understanding of project management, project controls and procedures normally associated with software projects

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and Project (or Primavera P6)

  • Experience managing and working with internal teams and interfacing with client organisations
