About the role

Purpose of the role is to support the activities of the newly created Sustainable Investments team. The role will report to the Head of Sustainable Investments and support the development of the Group’s ESG strategy, creation of appropriate frameworks and reporting mechanisms

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the evolution of Phoenix's approach to sustainable investment - support ESG (inc climate change) research and contribute to the Group policy and strategy.

  • Managing UN PRI signatory reporting and relationship- Support the data responses other external ESG assessments. Work closely with Corporate Sustainability team and central functions as required.

  • Assess the ESG capability of asset managers; Support application of the oversight framework to external managers, scoring them within this framework on matters relating to ESG.

  • Take ownership of key parts of the ESG reporting process - analyzing, monitoring and interpreting investment portfolio's ESG performance. Contribute to the quarterly/annual reporting process of the Asset Manager Oversight team

  • Lead the production of reports, presentations, RFPs on sustainable investment information to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, tailoring the information presented to the audience's requirements.

  • Staying abreast of latest developments in ESG investing including new regulation to ensure Phoenix can attain and retain an industry leading position; Represent Phoenix in meetings with external market participants and industry forums.

Essential

  • An appreciation and understanding of the ESG factors from an investment perspective or corporate position

  • Understanding of Phoenix Asset Management processes across shareholder or policy holder business.

  • A keen interest in engaging and influencing key stakeholders.

  • A passion for sustainable investing

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

  • Relevant professional qualification(s) (e.g. IMC or studying towards CFA) desirable

  • Willing to pursue ESG certifications
