Trend Designer FTC part time

Job Description:

We are looking for a Trend Designer to join our design team on a 6 Month FTC part time. You will Support Trend Design Lead to deliver Macro Trends and Seasonal Trends across Womenswear, Kidswear and Lingerie in line with Departmental DPS deadlines.

Key Responsibilities & Measures

  • Research macro trends appropriate across WW/Lingerie and support Trend Design Lead in delivering these for the BU’s.

  • Research Lifestyle and Product trends for WW/Lingerie from global sources appropriate to the M&S brand and customer In-depth research with significant knowledge of product, global market and lifestyle influences

  • Work collaboratively with the Colour and Print team to ensure joined up Seasonal Trends which form the basis of seasonal Design Briefs

  • Work collaboratively with Fabric Sourcing and Development teams across WW/Lingerie to identify headline Fabric directions and key opportunities

  • Support Trend Design Lead to deliver constant updates on trends as appropriate from continual research e.g. Catwalk /trades fairs/ market Intel/trend services etc. to ensure the offer looks modern and stylish for the customer

  • Deliver in line with agreed BU critical path dates

  • Engage and work closely with Trend Design Lead, Design Leads and Design Teams throughout the process

  • Work collaboratively across Clothing and Home with appropriate designers

  • Utilise relevant IT tools to deliver- Adobe Creative Suite

Key Skills

  • A strong Macro Trend Research handwriting, appropriate across WW/ Lingerie, and able to support Trend Design Lead in delivering these for BU’s. Illustrate a keen eye for image selection and mood board creation, that inspires and drives the seasonal trends across BU’s.

  • Research Lifestyle and Product trends for WW/KW/Lingerie from global sources appropriate to the M&S brand and customer In-depth research with a significant knowledge of product, global market and lifestyle influences

  • Support Trend Design Lead to identify key themes to span across WW/Lingerie. Able to work independently with direction from Trend Design Lead, to develop themes, into commercial influences, across all product areas.

  • Work collaboratively with the Colour and Print team to ensure joined up Seasonal Trends which form the basis of seasonal Design Briefs

  • Work collaboratively with Fabric Sourcing and Development teams across WW/Lingerie to identify headline Fabric directions and key opportunities

  • Support Trend Design Lead to deliver constant updates on trends as appropriate from continual research e.g. Catwalk /trades fairs/ markets, fashion history/exhibitions/vintage/ social media/ Intel/trend services etc. to ensure the offer looks modern and stylish for the customer

  • Deliver in line with agreed BU critical path dates, & support Trend Design Lead on the management of Critical Path.

  • Engage and work closely with Trend Design Lead, Design Leads and Design Teams throughout the process

  • Work collaboratively with design and technical teams for both input and to drive understanding and delivery

  • Work collaboratively across Clothing and Home with appropriate designers

  • Utilise relevant IT tools to deliver, constantly pushing the boundaries of how we present, deliver our trends & the way we work in the most modern, sustainable & innovative way, in our post-covid world.
